I’m Jade – a self-taught artist, working primarily in oil paint and occasionally oil pastel. I kind of fell into painting by mistake a few years ago after quitting my job to pursue school again, using painting as a form of art therapy.

My initial background lies in photography, specifically analog photography. I worked several years in a photo lab and as a freelance photographer, and I use my knowledge of analog photography processes in part of my painting processes.

Much of what I’m drawn to make lies in the familiar, with a touch of absurdity. I primarily focus on my love for portraiture, food, and weird little scenes that make me laugh.
